For some glaucoma patients, the eye pressure is not adequately controlled with the use of eye drops or oral medications, or the medications result in intolerable side effects. For these patients, surgery may be the best option. For certain patients there is a minimally invasive laser procedure called Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) that can safely and effectively lower the eye pressure. For patients for which SLT is not an acceptable option a more definitive surgical procedure may become necessary. In the following pages we will discuss SLT and other glaucoma treatments in greater detail.
